Everneath is officially the first series I’ve finished this year. It’s always difficult to come to the end of a series, especially when the loose ends are tied. In Evertrue, however, the end felt more final than usual, if that makes sense. Usually, there is a door left open for the author to continue exploring that world building. That was not the case here, there is no way for the author to continue that series in the future (unless she decides to explore the past).
I did have some questions about the end, but that was me over thinking things. I’m not going to post the questions here, as they are way too spoilery. But I’ve been mulling them over in the past few days, that’s for sure. Let’s just say some of the decisions made in the book are huge, and it feels like they didn’t get the amount of reflection they deserved.
Still about the end, I wanted the love triangle to be resolved, but not really that way! It just felt a bit sudden. And I’m not saying anything else about the end.
As for the characters, they continued on the same trend of the previous books. Jack is too adorable to be real. Cole is that guy we love to hate and hate to love. Nikki is still a bit rash (I do feel for her dad), and the queen is just weird, in my opinion. As a villain, she is not that good (or bad?) in my opinion.
Overall, it was a good read, and a good end to a trilogy (the end felt quite sudden *sorry, couldn’t help myself*)
